Chesapeake & Delaware Canal

Got up early this morning (6:30am!!) and got the kayaks down to explore Worton Creek. Nice way to start the day. The photo is not from today but from Sunday with Gail Higginbotham also in her kayak.

The Bay was even smoother today than yesterday; and absolute pond. The northern Bay is much different than what we are used to. Much shallower and higher banks. Looks more like Pennsylvania than Maryland.

As we passed the Sassafras River we have now taken Compass Rose farther north than she's ever been.

The C&D Canal connects the Chesapeake Bay with Delaware Bay greatly shortening the trip to to Baltimore to the South.

Stopped for the night at Chesapeake City. What a lovely town! Most of the house and B&B's date from the 1850's have all been beautifully restored.

We met someone who is really, really into old bicycles...he has over 80 of the type in the photo. It's a good thing he didn't let go of John because they aren't easy to ride.

Photos: John trying to kill himself.

Photo: What do kids in Chesapeake City do for entertainment? Drive golf balls across the C&D Canal (600 ft)!
