Left Bear Mountain and headed north eagerly anticipating passing by West Point. And, sure enough, we weren't disappointed...it's still there! Just as impressive from the water as it is on land. It's hard to believe Travis was a Plebe there 16 years ago.
The United States Military Academy at West Point was established by Thomas Jefferson in 1802. Prior to that is had been an important garrison during the American Revolution. It is America's oldest occupied military post (1778) and occupies over 16,000 acres (the Naval Academy covers 338 acres)
